Clinical Level 1
Re-certification training for existing INRstar users such as Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists or Pharmacy Technicians. The course reinforces core system knowledge, safe working practices and key clinical workflows.
About This Course
Designed for existing INRstar users who have been assigned Clinical Level 1 permissions (for example - Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists or Pharmacy Technicians etc.). This course provides re-certification training for users who are looking to refresh and consolidate their knowledge of the system. It covers the core features of INRstar, your role within the anticoagulation service, and the key concepts required to support you in working safely and effectively.
Learning Objectives
- Understand what INRstar is, how it is hosted and which clinical systems it interfaces with
- Identify the different clinical user levels and the permissions associated with Clinical Level 1
- Understand the purpose of dosing algorithms and warfarin tablet selection guidance
- Know how dosing diaries and patient communication tools are used in INRstar
- Manage Point of Care Testing (PoCT) test strip batches
- Understand how warfarin and DOAC patients are managed within INRstar
- Recognise the role of alerts and warnings in protecting patients and staff
- Maintain your user profile and navigate the home and message screens
- Add a patient to INRstar and navigate the patient record and its key tabs
- Confirm patient identity and ask the three key questions before entering an INR
- Enter in-range and out-of-range INR results and understand the referral process
- Recognise the appropriate response to high INR results and adverse events
- Manage patient records including flags, suspensions and deactivation
- Use the reporting, Tests Due and Options areas, and access help and support resources
- Perform internal and external quality control on your PoCT device

Prerequisites
Completion of INRstar Introduction (Clinical Level 1), or equivalent experience as a Clinical Level 1 INRstar user.
