About This Course

Designed for existing INRstar users who have been assigned Clinical Level 2 or 3 permissions (for example - Registered nurses, Nurse Prescribers, Anticoagulation Nurses, GPs or Pharmacists etc.). This course provides re-certification training for users who are looking to refresh and consolidate their knowledge of the system. It covers all the features available to users with Clinical Level 1 INRstar permissions along with the additional clinical responsibilities and system capabilities available to users with Clinical Level 2 or 3 INRstar permissions, including setting up warfarin and non-warfarin treatment plans, selecting dosing algorithms, conducting clinical reviews, and managing overrides, referrals and manual dosing.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the INRstar infrastructure and the clinical systems it interfaces with
  • Identify the permissions and clinical responsibilities held by Clinical Level 2 and Clinical Level 3 users
  • Identify and select the appropriate dosing algorithm for each patient
  • Maintain your user profile and navigate the home and message screens
  • Know how tablet selection, dosing diaries and digital options support patient communication
  • Understand how DOACs, clinical reviews, reporting and analytics work within INRstar
  • Manage Point of Care Testing (PoCT) test strip batches
  • Add a patient and set up a warfarin treatment plan using the maintenance and induction algorithms
  • Navigate the patient record and its key tabs, and confirm patient identity before entering an INR
  • Enter in-range and out-of-range INR results and manage the referral process
  • Respond to high INR results and clinical warnings, and record adverse events
  • Authorise and override referrals, and perform manual dosing as a Clinical Level 3 user
  • Manage patient records including flags, suspensions and deactivation
  • Set up a non-warfarin treatment plan and calculate creatinine clearance using the Cockcroft-Gault formula
  • Conduct and document warfarin and non-warfarin clinical reviews
  • Use the Tests Due, reports and Options areas, perform quality control and access help and support
